A brief look at the story along with references from Quran

It is the year 16 B.C. People of the Jerusalem are waiting impatiently for the birth of the son of Emran, the Messiah.

Behold! a woman of 'Imran said: "O my Lord! I do dedicate unto Thee what is in my womb for Thy special service: So accept this of me: For Thou hearest and knowest all things."

(Surah Aale Imran: 3:35)

But instead, a girl is born. Anna, her mother, names her Marry, which means the servant of God.

When she was delivered, she said: "O my Lord! Behold! I am delivered of a female child!"- and Allah knew best what she brought forth- "And no wise is the male Like the female. I have named her mary, and I commend her and her offspring to Thy protection from the Evil One, the Rejected."

(Surah Aale Imran: 3:36)

At the age of 6, Mary is presented in the temple, and remains there under the protection of Zechariah, the prophet until the age of 16.

So her Lord accepted her with a good acceptance and made her grow up a good growing, and gave her into the charge of Zakariya; whenever Zakariya entered the sanctuary to (see) her, he found with her food. He said: O Marium! Whence comes this to you? She said: It is from Allah. Surely Allah gives to whom He pleases without measure.

(Surah Aale Imran: 3:37)

She spends all of her time in labor and prayers, and is harassed by the Jewish priests.

"O mary! worship Thy Lord devoutly: Prostrate thyself, and bow down (in prayer) with those who bow down."

(Surah Aale Imran: 3:43)

She achieves such holiness that the angle Gabriel descends upon her,

Behold! the angels said: "O mary! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be Christ Jesus, the son of mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah.

(Surah Aale Imran: 3:45)

After blessings from Allah (SWT), Gabriel conveys the message that she is going to be mother of such a pious child who is going to be one of the greatest prophets of Allah in this world.

"He shall speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. And he shall be (of the company) of the righteous."

(Surah Aale Imran: 3:46)

On hearing this, Maryam gets shocked and Many questions arise in her mind.
How it is possible, as none of the men has ever touched her?
What will people say about her?
Who is father of this child?
What answer she will give to people of Jerusalem?

she said: "O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man hath touched me?" He said: "Even so: Allah createth what He willeth: When He hath decreed a plan, He but saith to it, 'Be,' and it is!

(Surah Aale Imran: 3:47)

As per the command of God she gives birth to a son Esa (Jesus Christ). On this, people start blaming her that she had done the forbidden act.

That they rejected Faith; that they uttered against mary a grave false charge;

(Surah An Nisaa: 4:156)

When people start accusing Maryam and doubt her character Hazrat Esa, the newly born child in his mother’s arms gives witness that he is the servant of God and has been given revelation and has been made a Prophet.

He said: "I am indeed a servant of Allah. He hath given me revelation and made me a prophet..

(Surah Maryam: 19:30)
